The prestigious distillery DYC has chosen Torrent Group to develop a whisky stopper for its DYC Double Oak line.
This new product not only displays the distinctive international quality for which the brand is renowned, but also embodies sustainable development policies that we are proud to be a part of. DYC Double Oak is a first-class whisky, sustainable and Spanish.
DYC and Torrent Group: together on sustainability
It is not only the prestige of our client that makes us proud at Torrent Closures, or the passion for making quality things that brings us together. We are also united by a philosophy of sustainability, care for the environment and a respect for seeking innovation in forms of production that do not harm our planet.
That has been the case with this line, where DYC has proposed the reforestation of 1000 trees in Palazuelos de Eresma, Segovia, where the company is based, with the aim of contributing to the healthy maintenance of Spanish forests, recognized worldwide for their biodiversity.
This is one of several sustainable decisions; other examples are the use of local raw materials or the double ageing of the spirit in oak barrels, which is not only part of a policy for caring for resources, but also raises the quality of the product by turning it into an extraordinary liquid. Luis García, director, environmental manager and master blender of the distillery, tells the media that: “the second ageing allows the liquid to develop an even deeper level of intense and spicy caramel and oak, thus creating a truly exclusive single malt.”
At Torrent Closures, we feel jointly responsible for these last comments, because we were entrusted with the development of closure solutions, and used the same woods from which the barrels were made as raw material. As we have said, this has not only the effect of reusing the raw material but also affects the product itself. Can you imagine drinking a whisky where even the stopper smells like the spirit? Amazing! Right?
A unique closure for a unique whisky: DYC Double Oak
Undoubtedly, all these factors make DYC Double Oak a whisky of the highest quality, clearly recommended for lovers of spirits; a product worthy of an innovative and responsible brand like DYC. At Torrent Closures, we are extremely happy to be a strategic provider in the design of the branding of their closure solutions.
A Spanish whiskey and a Spanish closure
In 2017, DYC started producing a collection of whiskeys called Master Distillers, with the aim of demonstrating that they could create this type of drink to the highest levels of quality. After models like DYC 12 and DYC 15, DYC Double Oak was created.
A unique and unsurpassable whisky; a limited edition single malt (only 12,000 bottles have been released), where each copy has its own unique numbering.
When tasting DYC Double Oak, experts distinguish the following characteristics:
- The view: The bottle of DYC Double Oak follows the line of the Master Distillers collection, although it has a more modern design. It also includes an augmented reality experience. In a glass, whisky is old gold.
- The nose: On the nose it is light, with notes of roasted oak and vanilla. It has some fruit aromas: mainly roasted apple and a touch of banana. Caramel aromas are mixed with a hint of citrus.
- The palate: On the palate, it is very light and spicy. Highlights include sweet notes of vanilla and caramel, accompanied by banana and pear in syrup. The “Double Oak” is very present in this expression of DYC. Notes of roasted coffee and a little ginger. A touch of fruit and nuts.
- The finish: It is long and spicy, with notes of roasted oak.
The DYC Double Oak is a drink that simply must be tried by whisky lovers: a new experience from the Segovia company.
