At Grupo Torrent, we are strengthening our commitment to sustainability and social responsibility by joining the third edition of the Business & Human Rights Accelerator programme, led by the UN Global Compact Spain. This initiative, which includes over 60 Spanish companies such as Acciona, Adif, CEMEX, Navantia, Mercadona, and Iberdrola, aims to enhance business management in the areas of human rights and sustainability.
Since its launch in 2023, the programme has trained more than 1,350 companies worldwide, including 137 in Spain. The programme aligns with the European Union’s Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD), which is expected to affect around 5,000 companies within Spain.
Reinforcing Our Commitment to Sustainability and Human Rights
By joining this initiative, Grupo Torrent takes another step forward in our corporate social responsibility strategy. Over the six-month programme, we will undergo specialised training to identify and address human rights impacts within our operations, ensuring compliance with European regulatory frameworks and adhering to international best practices.
Our participation in the Business & Human Rights Accelerator Programme allows us to strengthen our sustainability and human rights policies. We firmly believe that responsible corporate governance is essential for the progress of our industry and society at large.
Business & Human Rights Accelerator: A Practical and Global Approach
The Business & Human Rights Accelerator collaborates with globally recognised organisations such as Shift and the International Labour Organization (ILO). This ensures a hands-on approach tailored to the realities of Spanish businesses. Localised sessions offer companies the opportunity to address specific challenges and share experiences, helping improve their human rights performance.
The programme has delivered highly positive results in previous editions, with 93% of participating companies recommending it. Participants have praised its effectiveness in helping them design and implement actionable human rights strategies.
Driving Towards a Sustainable Future
At Grupo Torrent, we continue to prioritise innovation and social responsibility as fundamental pillars of our corporate strategy. By taking part in this initiative, we are advancing towards a more sustainable business model that aligns with international standards and addresses the evolving expectations of our industry and stakeholders.
